Can I file for uncontested divorce?
You can file for uncontested divorce in Washington State if:
- You or your spouse have lived in Washington State for at least the past 6 months, or if one of you is a member of the military currently stationed in Washington. 
- Your spouse will sign divorce papers without dispute. 
- You’ve agreed on how you’ll divide all property and liabilities, including debt. 
- If you are pregnant, have any children from this marriage or children for whom you’re both legal guardians, you’ve agreed on a parenting plan including custody, visitation rights, and spousal support. 
What if I can’t file for uncontested divorce?
- If neither of you are a Washington State resident, then you can request legal counsel or search online for an uncontested divorce service in your state of residency. 
- If you or your spouse are a Washington State resident but answered “No” to the questions about property, liabilities, childcare or signing without dispute, contact me (509) 670-8161 for contested divorce counsel.
